This years Geneva Motor Show in March will mark the one year anniversary of the debut of Maserati’s GranTurismo. The GranTurismo romanced us for the rest of 2007 with the highlight being an up-close look at the GT at the 2007 Sydney Motor Show.

There is no doubting the GranTurismo has the show (it is a show-stopper) but with its 4.2-litre V8 churning out ‘just’ 302kW, its considered by some to be a little light on go. Looks will only get you so far in this world, at some point the numbers come into play and the GranTurismo has been begging for a bigger brother - which is just what Maserati appear to have cobbled together.

For those wanting a more urgent response to their right foot reflex, Maserati have created an GranTurismo S, which is expected to make its debut at this years Geneva Motor Show. A fitting way to celebrate the first anniversary.

The GranTurismo S will feature the same 4.7-litre V8 found in the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. That means power is up to a healthier 324kW. To add to the driving experience the S will also feature an advanced dual-clutch transmission in place of the ZF six-speed auto. The fitment of larger Brembo brakes ensures that the S will stop as well as it goes.

The interior will receive some detail changes to set the S apart from its lesser 4.2-litre powered brethren, expect plenty of leather and alcantara.

While the images look genuine we can’t be sure that they are official, at the very least it looks promising, but then it would be hard to mess up a masterpiece…

We’ll bring you the full details closer to the Geneva Motor Show in March.
