The first official images of the highly anticipated Fiat 500 Abarth have hit the net thanks to the folks over at Carscoop. Throughout the latter half of 2007 we saw spy photos of the little Abarth pocket rocket testing at the Nurburgring and like many Fiat/Abarth fans waited impatiently for the first real pictures.

Featuring a good dose of attitude, the Abarth 500 gets more aggressive flared wheel arches that are filled with beautiful scorpion adorned classic Italian style allow wheels. The bodywork features a revised front bar, sill covers and rear bumper. As is the fashion these days a rear diffuser is also a feature of the rear-end treatment, along with a unique pair of exhaust tips.

Red Abarth striping adorns the side of the 500, matched by red side mirrors and brake calipers. The Abarth badge adorns the bonnet, rear quarters and the hatchback.

Look-out for more official images and drivetrain specs to become available, prior to the Abarth 500 wooing the crowds at its Geneva debut in March.
