BENTLEY’S MOST POWERFUL road-going car yet, the Continental Supersports, was wheeled out at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed and put in the more-than-capable hands of multiple Le Mans-winner Derek Bell, who took the sports coupe through its paces up Goodwood’s famous hillclimb course.

With a 0-96km/h sprint time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 328km/h, the big two-door is remarkably rapid.

Bell, an experienced pedaller of race cars, says it needs to be driven fast to properly appreciate the difference between it and the GT Speed, and he shows us just how quickly it can be hustled up a hill in the video after the jump.

Going on sale around the start of the fourth quarter of this year, the Continental Supersports will be the most powerful Bentley ever sold to the general public. With 463kW and a monstrous 800Nm thundering out of its twin-turbocharged E85-compatible W16 engine, it’s not hard to see why.
