Audi Launches New Engines For Q5 And A4 Allroad

AUDI HAS CONFIRMED that two new engines have been added to the European Q5 range, both detuned variants of the existing 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI units.

The 2.0 TFSI puts out 132kW and 320Nm of torque from its supercharged four-cylinder motor, while the 2.0 TDI develops 105kW and 320Nm.

The 2.0 TDI now becomes the entry-level diesel motor for the Q5 range, and is also the base engine on the recently-released A4 Allroad.

While torque output for the two engines is the same, their performance characteristics couldn’t be more different.

The petrol-drinking 2.0 TFSI accelerates the Q5 from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds and uses 8.4l/100km on the combined cycle, while the 2.0 TDI takes a leisurely 11.4 seconds to get to 100km/h but sips just 6.5l/100km.

However, given the relative proximity of the new motors to the 155kW turbocharged 2.0 TFSI and 125kW 2.0 TDI in the current Australian Q5 line-up, Audi Australia has no plans to introduce the lower-output engines to Aus-delivered Q5s.

As for the A4 Allroad, Audi Australia spokesperson Anna Burgdorf told TMR that there are no plans to add that model to the brand’s local offerings.
