R35 GT-R enthusiasts take note! The car you see here could shortly be the very first road registered R35 GT-R on Australian roads. Spotted earlier this year at a Sydney Shell Service Station by an eagle eyed SkylinesAustralia forum member, this car is currently going through the requisite compliance testing, that should see it able to be registered for road use in Australia! I didn’t think it was possible either…but it is.
TMR will be keeping a close eye on the progress with this car and we will introduce you to its likeable owner, BIG Carl a 59 year old self-confessed petrolhead, who delights in outdriving the young guys and has a penchant for seriously (and I mean SERIOUSLY) powerful late model Japanese performance cars.
BIG Carl’s current ride is a heavily modified twin-turbo V35 350GT Skyline, with a very healthy 500 rear-wheel kilowatts – we’ll bring you more on that later this week.
If you are an R35 GT-R enthusiast, or in the market for a brand new fully complied R35 GT-R then stay tuned, all will be revealed in the not too distant future.

Cain - an article is coming over the next few days with all of the details on the V35, including mods made and by whom.
The V35 will I believe be up for sale soon.
If you have any questions after the article I’ll see if I can put you in touch with the owner.
Is “Big carl” the same bloke who owns/owned a white twin turbo v35 that spat oil over the track at wakefield park a while ago and said it was a turbo seal?
Yeah i’ve been in this car!
As i know mr “big” carl! and i tell you! its amazing!
i think i was wiping the drool off the side of the car when i saw it!
A a lil birdy told me that the V35 will be up for sale too!
And if the the $$$ was there i wouldn’t think twice to buy it! i’d already have it!
“spat an turbo seal? it was a lil more than that!” but that “oil seal” turned into 500kw!
But whats the update on the R35?? Who knows!
V35 article will come this weekend. The release of the FG Falcon ‘took over’ last weekend…
R35 Update? Patiance lil birdy…patience. There is only very limited info available to me on this and until compliance is approved there will not be much to report.
I am however hoping to get up close and personal with the GT-R in the pics and will be very pleased to give TMR readers a rundown and a bunch of pictures to drool over from that.
have a chance to buy one here in NZ (have already driven it) but concerned about servicing and limiter…is there an alternative to Consult verion 3. Nice to get contact details of Big Carl
That’s New Zealand and I’ve heard there are now 3 in the country
Jack - send me an email via the contact page with how you would prefer to be contacted. I’ll pass the details to Big Carl and he can make contact if it suits.
