Hertz Now Offering Lotus Elises For Rent In Italy

MOST RED-BLOODED petrol heads will have seen the tight, sinuous roads that wind their way through the Italian countryside and pondered what it would be like to drive through them at a highly illegal rate of knots.

Some may have even been fortunate enough to visit Italy themselves, only to discover that the fanciest set of wheels available at the airport rental counter is a Fiat Punto. Hardly the type of vehicle to do such roads justice.

However, rental car company Hertz has heard the plaintive cry of the car-loving tourist and announced that a brace of Lotus Elise SCs has been added to its Italian fleet.

lotus_elise-sc_hertz_02The Lotuses form part of Hertz Italiana’s Fun Collection, and are all painted yellow and feature Hertz-branded interior trim.

Hertz has offered the Corvette ZHZ and Shelby Mustang GT-H in the United States for a while now, but this is the first time such a sports car has been offered for rent in Europe by the company.

They won’t come cheaply, but the Hertz Elise SCs would arguably be the most convenient option for renting a proper sportscar to explore the country’s autostradas and B-roads with.

The only problem now is figuring out how to fit a fortnight’s worth of luggage into one.

If their rentals over there are anything like their rentals here, it really Hertz to be a customer!

I love you so much, it Hertz!! Hehehe

I wonder how many of these will return in one piece!

I used to rent a Z4 of Hertz back in 03 04 and 05, out of Brisbane that is. They stopped renting them for some reason. They were awesome fun and at only around 220 bucks for 24 hours and unlimited k’s, by my calculations, that was the best fun money could buy. I did it more than a couple of times. Best money I ever spent.

I wish they would rent Lotus Elise here. I am stuck with some hairdresser’s Astra convertible for my next trip later this month. The lotus would have been worth whatever they wanted to charge for it.
