BMW HAS CONFIRMED that the upcoming M Sport performance packages for the X6 crossover will feature substantial power gains as well as tweaked bodywork.

The X6 xDrive35 and xDrive50i will be gifted with a few extra kilowatts, with the 240kW twin-turbo inline six of the recently-launched 740d being transplanted into the xDrive35i and the twin-turbo V8 of the xDrive50i getting boosted to 330kW.

That puts the xDrive35i M Sport 15kW ahead of the regular model, while the xDrive50i with the M Sport package winds up 30kW in front of the normal xDrive50i.

Torque also gets a boost, with the six-cylinder producing 450Nm in M Sport trim and the V8 gaining an unspecified amount of twist.

A sporty bodykit, 20-inch wheels and unique interior trim will mark out the M Sport-equipped X6s as being the mid-range models in the X6 line-up, however don’t expect it to look quite as brutish as the range-topping X6 M.

The M Sport performance pack for the X6 will be officially announced and made available later this year, however Australian availabilty and pricing for the new trim levels is uncertain at this stage.
