PEUGEOT HAS taken the wraps off its freshly-facelifted 207 range in Europe, introducing a number of mild cosmetic and specification changes.

The front bumper is different, with new foglight recesses and a reshaped grille giving the French hatchback a sleeker, sportier look. There’s also more chrome and LED tail-lights along with redesigned rear bumpers for both the 207 hatch and 207 CC.

Inside, new trim designs, Bluetooth and a revamped instrument cluster are the major changes, but the biggest news is reserved for what’s under the bonnet. A range of new Euro V-compliant engines will be gradually phased in for the 207 model line, with CO2 emissions claimed to fall to just 99g/km for the ultra-efficient 207 HDi FAP 99g.

Alongside the FAP 99g’s thrifty diesel motor will be a 50kW 1.4 HDi, 66kW 1.6 HDi and an 80kW 1.6 HDi FAP. The list of petrol engines for the 207 features a 54kW 1.4 litre, a 65kW version of the same engine (fitted with a robotised manual gearbox) and a range of high tech variable valve lift-equipped motors, starting with the 70kW 1.4 VTi and ending with the 88kW 1.6 VTi.

Those wanting a bit more urge are catered for by a turbocharged 1.6 litre four-pot, which pushes out 128kW and 240Nm with an overboost function.

The facelifted 207 range launches in Europe in July, with three and five-door hatches, wagon and cabriolet bodystyles on offer. An Australian release for the updated 207 has yet to be announced.
