It would seem that the Queensland Highway Patrol have a new steed in their stable, this time in the form of Toyota’s TRD Aurion. Wearing “Heat” number plates, you could be forgiven for thinking that someone on the force has a sense of humour but it actually stands for Help Eliminate Auto Theft and doesn’t refer to “putting the heat” on local motorists.
The 241kW front-wheel-drive TRD Aurion has been given the thumbs up by the Highway Patrol members who have driven it, although they have admitted to developing a new driving style to deal with the Aurion’s ample under-pressure understeer.
The usual RWD pursuit car, power-on into a corner followed by some opposite-lock oversteer shenanigans has been dropped, in favour of a more FWD friendly driving attitude.
The TRD Aurion has been commended by officers for its interior comfort and plentiful power. With the driving technique sorted out they are said to be extremely happy with the new addition to the fleet. You can check out the full story over at Autoblog.

Dead right Dave - There I was trying to rip 41kW off the TRD Aurion. Might have cured the torque steer…but made the price hard to justify.
