Due to be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show which opens this Sunday, the Corvette ZR1 is powered by GM’s new supercharged LS9 6.2-litre V8. For those with long memories Bob Lutz did promise an M5 V10 beating engine a few years back and if power and torque are the yardstick then the LS9 has the BMW’s V10 whipped. Although performance figures have not yet been released by GM, word has it that the ZR1 is good for at least 200mph (320km/h approx).

Click through for two official videos. If you want to see the ZR1 in action and really hear the meaty V8 supercar-like sound track then check out the first video. The second video is a look at the features of the ZR1 with Tom Wallace, vehicle line executive, performing cars for GM.
