We’ve recently seen some artists impressions of the highly anticipated RX-9 hit the net. It turned out that they were produced by the guys over at Winding Road but lets not let the details get in the way of a good story. While the possible new RX-9 remains an unknown quantity (Mazda, please drop the rear door, go back to two seats and give it some real power…) some images have surfaced giving us an idea what to expect for the facelifted RX-8.

Scanned from a Japanese magazine, the image shows that the upgrade is “light cosmetic” with a new grille, revised headlights and driving lights and taillights that now feature LED rings…and thats about it folks. The RX-8 pictured is the RS version which also features Recaro front seats and Bilstein suspension.

There is a whisper that the refreashed RX-8 is all for the benefit of the folks in North America and may not even make it to the RX-8’s other markets. All will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show later this month.
