There have been rumours concerning a possible open-top Veyron for some time now and one of the juiciest to-date, has just hit the net. According to the guys over at Autogespot, Bugatti has ordered 400 W16 quad turbo Veyron engines but will only build 300 standard hard-top Veyrons.
That leaves 100 units or so kicking around the French Villa gathering dust, less one which is being tested in a Bentley. The theory is that they have been earmarked for the mythical targa top Veyron. This is all according to Autogespot’s sources of course.
The same source suggests that the Targa top Veyron will be limited to a top speed of just…340kmh and that you won’t have anywhere to store the lid, which will have to stay in the garage on the days you want the wind in your hair.
Somewhat oddly, it would seem that the entire production run of Targa Veyrons has been pre-sold, before its existence is even confirmed, by around 80-odd obscenely wealthy and rather tight-lipped individuals.

A Targa would be nice. A Royale would be much nicer.
