Hyundai Genesis officially unveiled for the Korean press

Earlier this week, Hyundai unveiled their new Genesis logo/badge and confirmed that their new RWD platform models will be named Genesis – which we had all worked out many months ago. Today Hyundai have unveiled the first production car that will wear the Genesis wings.

Previewed for the Korean media, who have all probably seen them driving around downtown Seoul before today, the new Genesis luxury sedan made its first official public appearance.

Aside from the public unveiling, Hyundai have not confirmed any further details regarding the Genesis sedan. We know it will feature the Tau V8 with 280kW/375hp along with a choice of two Lambda V6 engines, a 3.3-litre and a 3.8-litre unit. We also know that the new winged badge will only feature on domestic market and Chinese delivery cars – but we don’t know why.

We do know that we are unlikely to see the Genesis sedan in Australia, which is a shame as it appears to have shaped up nicely and looks like being extraordinary value when it goes on sale Stateside.

Is Genesis planned for US and does it meet crash teat standards or US emmission standards?

Hi Henry - Genesis has been built largely with the US in mind so yes the US version will meet all the requirements of that market. It looks like Australia will be missing out though, although there is still hope.
