At Auction: The 1939 Fiat 2800 Torpedo That Outlived The Backsides Of Tyrants

The Fiat 2800, built between 1938 and 1943, was considered a sign of class and station, with such elite figures as King Vittorio Emanuele II and the Pope counting it among their fleets.

Of the 624 units built, though, 210 Fiat 2800s were used to chauffeur foreign dignitaries and heads of the Italian Fascist military.

This month, on May 18, COYS International Auction House will take bids for the one example purported to have been the chariot of Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Spanish dictator Francisco Franco.

It might be a tough sell (who’s going to raise their hand for something with a connection to such figures?), but COYS is expecting a final sale price upwards of £250,000 (AU$493,699).
