Word has it that Renault are looking to revive their cherished Alpine badge in 2010, with an all new model. The good news is that the new model is tipped to be a mid-engined turbocharged two-door coupe!

AutoExpress informants have suggested that the finishing touches are being put to the exterior design of the new Alpine coupe. Meanwhile a Megane bodied mule has been seen testing at the Nurburgring and it is believed that the new Alpine’s chassis lurks beneath the Megane panel-work.

Aimed at the likes of Mazda’s MX5 and Nissan’s 350Z the new Alpine will be a blend of heritage and performance. It is unsure if the coupe will be the sole beneficiary of the Alpine name as it has been suggested that the Alpine badge will make an appearance on other Renault models as an answer to the Honda Type R’s and Golf GTi’s of this world.
