Could we be about to see a price drop for Subaru’s new WRX STi when it arrives in Australian showrooms in 2008? The WRX STi is due to make its UK debut at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham in January 2008 and in the UK at least, the pricing is very sharp at £24,995 on the road, or £1,600 less than the outgoing model.

If UK pricing is indicative of what we can expect in Australia then the 2008 WRX STi could sharply undercut Lancer Evo X pricing making it possibly the stand out turbo AWD performance bargain of 2008 – depending of course on what Mitsubishi have up their sleeves with the Ralliart Lancer.

The jury may be out with regard to the 2008 STi’s looks but there is no arguing with its 2.5-litre turbo AWD specification and 0-100kmh time of 4.9 seconds.
