Volkswagen has offered up an official video of its diesel-powered hot hatch, the 2009 Volkswagen Golf GTD, to coincide with its European launch.
Powered by a 2.0 litre TDI developing 126kW (170hp) and 350Nm (258lb-ft) of torque, the GTD falls a little short of the power of its GT-prefixed sibling, the GTI.
Nonetheless, with a fuel economy figure of only 5.3 l/100km, it ought to please those performance fans a little more sensitive to such things. Jump through to check out the video.
The GTD will march to 100km/h in 8.1 seconds, on to a top speed of 222km/h.
While the diesel engine leads to a somewhat underwhelming exhaust note (unless you’re into trucks, perhaps), the GTD seriously looks the part.
