MINI Shows Couture 'Katy Perry' Edition Cabriolet

The truly great thing about a MINI is the ability to make it unique... but there’s unique and then there’s unique – if you get what I mean.

To prove how far-out, wild and crazy a MINI can get, US fashion designers The Blonds (Phillipe and David Blond) have taken custody of a MINI convertible which will receive their unique touch before being raffled as part of the Life Ball 2009 HIV/AIDS charity event.

The creature you see before you is the design for The Blonds' Katy Perry edition MINI, inspired by the pop songstress who kissed a girl (and apparently liked it – what a sport). The Blonds' MINI joins previous Life Ball MINIs designed by the likes of Agent Provocateur, Mario Testino and Diesel.

While any assessment of good taste is entirely personal, The Blonds one-of-a-kind MINI is certainly, well pink. Pink leopard-skin print in fact, which The Blonds have used to embody the unique style of their good friend, the warbling Ms Perry.

You'll see the real thing in the metal on May 16 when Katy will accompany her MINI down the ‘blue carpet’ at the Life Ball gala event in Vienna, where she will later perform and one (ahem) lucky winner will receive the fashionista’s fantasy MINI.
