Some interesting news is hitting the web with regard to Mitsubishi’s upcoming Ralliart Lancer. With the big banger Evo X unveiled at the Sydney Motor Show, the focus is now shifting to Mitsubishi’s 'base model' Subaru WRX competitor, the Ralliart Lancer and it is shaping up to be the performance bargain of both companies ranges.

Mitsubishi has revealed that a five-door version of the new Lancer will be made available and that it will feature a 194kW/260hp and the previous generation Evolution IX’s all-wheel-drive system. Nothing like a bit of recycling and as any performance car fan will attest, the Evo IX’s all-wheel-drive system is nothing to be sneezed at.

So what we may be seeing in Australia is a Ralliart Lancer with the high-tech all-wheel-drive system from the Evo IX and with a quoted power figure just under that of the Evo IX! With 19Kw more than the new WRX and a super tricky AWD set-up, if the pricing of the Ralliart Lancer comes in around that of the WRX then this could just be the performance car buy of 2008.
