The menacing 599XX concept could form the basis for a 599 Scuderia edition Ferrari.

It looks like Ferrari has been busted on a day out and about with what appears to be a special new Ferrari 599 prototype.

World Car Fans is running a series of images showing the bright yellow Fezza bearing all (which is fine, it’s nothing we haven’t seen), with the stand-out feature on this mule being the repositioned exhaust pipes.

It’s a big deal when you remember that the license shredding Ferrari 599XX has a similarly setup rear end.

While this particular test mule lacks the abundant aero of the 599XX, it apparently made a noise that, according to the people behind the snaps, raised their neck hairs. Delicious.

Ferrari, then, could be testing the running gear for a production version of the track specific 599XX or readying a 599 Scuderia.

The former of the two was packing peak power of 515kW (700hp) when it hit the stand at Geneva, which could account for the noise.

However, a 599 Scuderia would likely receive an upgraded exhaust which could also account for the aural delights.
