Earlier this year, GM revealed three concept mini cars, the Beat, the Groove and the Trax. The wacky styling of the Beat in particular certainly had tongues wagging at the time. That was back in April and GM set-up an online poll at the time that asked the public to choose which of the three should go into production.

With more than 1.8 million people offering their opinion the Beat has emerged as the winner and GM has announced at the L.A Motor Show, that a production version of the Beat will be available to markets outside of the US and Canada from around mid 2009.

“The people have spoken. The vote count tripled all previous GM online consumer surveys, telling us the Beat resonated with customers all around the world. Chevrolet was overwhelmed by the positive reaction to each of the ‘triplets,’ but the Beat was the clear winner,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager

Although the details are not yet known, as we previously reported we can expect to see Daewoo produce the Beat with the possibility that it will be showing up in Holden dealerships in the second half of 2009.
