If you’ve ever longed to take something fast, sexy and European out onto a racetrack but lacked the wherewithal to buy a supercar of your own, fret not, for salvation is at hand.
Octane Supercar Events - a division of The Supercar Club - has recently launched its own track day operation, fittingly called Octane Track Days. Events are currently held at Phillip Island in Victoria and Eastern Creek in New South Wales, and there’s a smorgasbord of tasty exotics for you to punt around these circuits.
A Lotus Exige S is there for the thrashing, as is an Audi R8, Porsche GT3, Ferrari 360CS, Lamborghini Gallardo, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the balls-out Ariel Atom.
Hot laps in the Atom and Exige kick off the price list at AU$199, while getting behind the wheel of the Gallardo or the Ferrari will set you back $799. A lot of dollars for 2.5 hours worth of fun, yes, but short of winning the lottery there’s simply no other way us ordinary folk will be able to experience these cars at full-noise.
The next track day is scheduled for June 23rd at Eastern Creek, so head over to Octane’s site to see what the fuss is about and book your spot.

200 bucks to get behind the wheel of the Atom, one of the most obscenely quick cars in the world? Sounds like a bargain to me!
I dont know how they worked out the 2.5hrs total because it is only 3 laps total. So they must start the stop watch the second you arrive, include lunchtime and time to wash the car
Jeffske is right - you only get 3 laps in the car. The rest of the time will be taken up by a safety briefing and standing around whilst you watch the others have their turn!
