Back in March this year, we reported on rumours of the Lexus IS F Evolution, a lighter, carbon-fibre clad version of the Lexus IS F, the brand’s first entry into the V8 performance sedan market.

While no modifications or improvements to the powerplant were expected, a brace of performance enhancements and additions are supposedly on the cards, including flared rear guards and carbon-ceramic brakes.

Now, according to reports out of Japan, the Evolution has been confirmed and will be stalking showroom floors from 2010.

The rumours say that only 500 units will be offered worldwide, and at an astronomical rumoured price of US$250,000 (AU$358,700), we’re not surprised Lexus isn’t releasing the IS F Evolution for general sale.

For your brain-splitting reference, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage will run you around $260,000, while the Aston Martin DB9 will take roughly the same weight out of your pocket as the IS F Evolution.

At this point, we might, uh, wait for official confirmation before we take that price with anything more than a grain of salt.
