Lexus IS-F lacks distinction according to critics

The Lexus IS-F is from all reports proving itself to be a worthy adversary in the midsize performance sedan class, especially given that it is the first attempt that Lexus has made to produce such a machine. While it certainly appears to be able, it seems there are some enthusiasts who question the IS-F’s styling.

The main issue raised is a lack of distinction between the cooking model IS and the street hooligan IS-F – particularly with regard to the interior and the supposedly “bulbous” nose.

Toyota have heard the rumblings and responded by stating they are more concerned with creating a unique feel for all F-performance models (there are more to come) and that further modification of the IS-F is not a priority.

“We have to establish our own identity as a Lexus premium brand. Maybe we will put some flavor or dynamics, or more emotion, toward (F models) than the basic Lexus design”, said Toyota Motor Corporation design chief Wahei Hirai.

Lexus believe that they are better placed to inject more aggression into the design of their F-cars than the German manufacturers can with their performance offerings, as the Germans are more interested in design consistency and continuity whereas Lexus are different.

Whatever the general opinion is, CU thinks the IS-F looks hot, so some newly released images are called for. Check out the picture gallery below.
