Bertone Mantide Unveiled: Video

Bertone Mantide

We’ve been keeping close tabs on Bertone’s  ZR-1-based Mantide supercar, and our vigilance has finally paid off. After enduring teaser video after endless teaser video, Bertone has at last revealed all in this, the last video in the “Project M” series.

To say the Mantide possesses a busy shape would be an understatement. There’s a heck of a lot going on here.

Yep, this IS the rear-end

There’s lines, creases and angles going every which way, but to designer Jason Castriota’s credit, it’s a surprisingly cohesive shape. We haven’t entirely warmed to the flying buttresses that sprout from the B-pillar and the Mantide’s arse looks like a more demonic interpretation of the Lancer Evolution X’s face. However, all the elements of the Mantide’s design do appear to mesh well with one another.

Is this thing going to turn heads at Shanghai? It already is. Is it a genuine looker? We’ll let you decide that one.

Enjoy the vid.
