2009 R35 Nissan GT-R Sets New Best Lap At Nurburgring

Nissan R35 GT-R Spec V

Nissan said it wasn’t done with the GT-R and Germany’s mighty Nurburgring Nordschliefe, and it wasn’t kidding. After setting a blistering 7 minute 29 second best lap in a bog-standard R35 GT-R a year ago, Nissan has managed to raise the bar once more; this time logging a best lap of 7:27.56.

The car used was a factory-issue 2009 R35 GT-R, with standard Dunlop tyres mounted on a set of lightweight forged rims pinched from the range-topping Spec V model (above). Toshio Suzuki, the man who steered the GT-R during its last record lap, was at the helm.

Nissan believes there’s still more that can be squeezed from its 373kW twin-turbocharged supercar, and will continue to log more hot laps of the infamous Nordschliefe over the coming days.

Nissan R35 GT-R

Nissan’s obviously gunning for the Corvette ZR-1’s 7:26.4 lap, but will it make it? The company says sections of the track were compromised by dust and sand that had found its way onto the tarmac, so pending better conditions the GT-R’s newly-set lap record may be a short-lived one.

Keep that dial locked onto TMR, GT-R freaks. Nissan may have yet more surprises in store.

This should shut the Porsche people up for a while …

Forget Porsche, I wanna see this thing topple the ZR1

Porsche won’t like this…

Maybe we’ll find some Porsche engineers testing the “off road” ability of the Cayenne right before Nissan do their test runs, by driving them into the sand traps and then dragging it all back onto the circuit.

So… they ran a standard GT-R with SpecV wheels. Why don’t they just bring the SpecV out to the Nurburgring?

Frogger - because it’s more of a kick in the pants tp Porsche if the “standard” GTR does it, this way they can boast “imagine what the SpecV could do..”
Smart thinking and good marketing.

The Spec-V, from the specs provided, sounds pretty weaksauce anyway.

WOW the GTR is a sick car, now imagine what the BEAST spec V is gonna be OMG bravo NISSAN all the way can’t wait for the spec V laps

I love the new GTR, But…

YAWN….

Can we move onto the next big fad please. This Nurburgring thing is getting boring.

I think Nissan will be back to the Nurburgring when conditions are better. They weren’t completely satisfied with the circuit conditions and they will really shake things up. I also thought they were taking the Spec V too, perhaps they abandoned doing a run due to excessive dust and sand on the circuit. what is for sure the Spec-V will blitz. ‘Charlie’ reckons the Spec V is ‘weaksause’ Charlie should go to youtube and see some of the video test footage…it is the REAL DEAL…however in Aus dollars it is 911 Turbo money too….albeit quite a bit faster.

What a machine it even eclipses the astounding times of the 911Turbo Porsche’s at Nurburgring . . . .
What great bang for the buck at half the price of the 911 Turbo !!!
Well done Nissan . . . . keep them coming . . . . we need them back at Bathurst to show up the Aussie muscle cars !!!

Pitty that nobody can buy the same spec car as the ring car and reproduce the same or even near same times.

Wonder why???
