We trust that most of you have heard of BMW's M division, responsible for such masterpieces as the revered BMW M3 and the gentleman's super saloon, the M5.

Now, though, it appears that BMW may soon have a Motorsport division to add to its roll call, charged with creating race-specific components for those game enough to track their Bimmers.

The news came at the end of an interview with BMW's Accessory Development Manager Stephen Zoepf.

Zoepf said that a Motorsport division could create anything from "bodies in white, to higher capacity brake pads." Naturally, he didn't elaborate further, but there's obviously been some thought about the idea at BMW HQ.

Who knows, in the not too distant future you might just be able to buy all the bits required to get your car looking something like the M3 racer above. Direct from BMW. With a warranty.

An extremely limited warranty...
