2009 Volkswagen Polo Challenge Game A Hit On The iPhone

If you’re considering buying the 2009 Volkswagen Polo when it hits Aussie shores, chances are you’re pretty cool.  And if you’re pretty cool, chances are you own an Apple iPhone.  That’s cool, we get that.

So if you’re an iPhone-owning, Polo-desiring hipster, you might already be one of the more than 1.4 million worldwide who have downloaded the Volkswagen Polo Challenge app to their iPhones, in between sipping a latte at the local Starbucks and staring at The Motor Report on your Macbook.  That’s cool, we get that, too.

Well, I don’t own a Macbook, but I do own an iPhone, so of course I swiftly downloaded the free Volkswagen Polo Challenge and got playing.

As you can imagine, it’s no Gran Turismo.  With eight tracks and three controls at your disposal – left, right, brake (acceleration is automatic unless braking) – it’s a simple matter of tossing the Polo into the bumper-bowling corners and powering through most of them without touching the brake.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

Of course, to make the most of the iPhone’s in-built abilities, steering and acceleration can be set to respond to tilting the iPhone left to right, forward and back.

Still, it’s a good way to waste 10 minutes – but given the iPhone’s woeful battery life, you wouldn’t want to spend longer at it than that anyway – and an excellent marketing tool for the new 2009 Volkswagen Polo.
