Some of you might like to argue that of the two top British automotive TV shows, Top Gear leaves a mess on Fifth Gear’s desk (and hey, maybe I’d agree) but of both show’s hosts, Fifth Gear surely has the more competent drivers.
As proof – as if it were needed – take a look at this video of Fifth Gear’s Jason Plato as he controls what is essentially a forced drift through a corner in this past weekend’s BTCC round, after copping a BMW up the backside.
Jonathan Adams, driver of the BMW in question, seems to have misread entry speed for the corner, collecting Plato’s Daewoo Lacetti under brakes. While he passed Plato as part of the deal, Adams was penalised for the incident delivering victory to Plato.
But secretly, we know it only worked out that way because race organisers are mad drifting fans… maybe.

Also you have to ask yourself - if it wasn’t for the adrenalin and luck COULD he do that again? Lots of people, even regular people at normal civilian track days sometimes pull off saves that make you say DAMN that looked impressive, but at the end of the day a good driver needs to be able to do it all the time, not once.
