2010 Seat Ibiza Bocanegra: No, We Ain’t Gunna Get It

Seat will be taking the covers off its angry-faced Ibiza Bocanegra at the Barcelona Motor Show next month, giving us a tantalising look at a hot hatch that we most definitely won't be seeing on Australian roads.

Styled after the Bocanegra concept (pictured) that graced the halls at last year's Geneva Motor Show, the Ibiza Bocanegra will look pretty damn mean for a hatchback.

A blacked-out grille will carry over largely unchanged from the concept and should mesh well with the Ibiza's already-sharp sheetmetal. Further exterior changes have yet to be announced, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a new rear bumper and a fresh set of alloys to feature on the mod list.

The Bocanegra will share its mechanical package with the Seat Ibiza Cupra, meaning a VW-sourced 133kW 1.4 litre twincharged petrol four-banger and seven-speed DSG twin-clutch gearbox will be standard kit.

Sales are set to begin in Europe later this year, but don't hold your breath for an Australian release: Seat left our shores long ago. Damn.
