Audi’s go-fast RS division shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Hot on the heels of the TT RS comes spy shots from the lads at WorldCarFans, of the upcoming RS5 coupe on its way to a testing session at the Nürburgring.
Although the engine remains a mystery for the moment, the hot tip is that the RS5 will run either a de-tuned version of the twin-turbo 5.2 litre V10 found in the RS6, or an adaptation of the current 4.2 litre V8, with twin turbos attached for good measure.
The RS styling package incorporates more aggressive bumpers with massive air intakes in the front and twin oval tailpipes cast into the rear.
Deeper sills, a subtle lip spoiler and pumped guards round out the package. The test car rolls on the same 20 inch light-weight alloys as the RS6 with massive brake rotors filling the space behind.
A six-speed manual or Audi’s R-tronic dual-clutch transmission will also be available, packing seven forward gears to channel drive to the rear-biased quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The car seen on its way to the Nürburgring looks to be a fairly complete package, ready for final calibration tests, so don’t be too surprised if the RS5 makes an official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
