Dutch website autoblog.nl appears to have gotten its hands on images of the upcoming 2010 Opel Astra, set to succeed the aging delta platform’s H/C model.
While Holden’s predilection for Daewoo models means we’re unlikely to see the new Astra in Australia, we can at least stare longingly at the hatch of choice for Opel buyers in 2010.
There isn’t much in the way of official or even rumoured information on the new Astra. From a styling perspective, it’s clear the H/C’s successor draws plenty of family design inspiration from the Opel Insignia while maintaining some of the general lines established by the current model.
The 2010 Opel Astra is expected to make its official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, but no doubt more images and information will surface in the lead-up to the big event.

Why wouldn’t we see the new Astra in Australia? Currently the Astra sells in higher numbers than the Daewoo-built Viva. Unless they replace it with an Australian built model, I think it will be here to continue the two-vehicle attack on the small car market
Andrew, fair call. Why don’t we still get the Opel Corsa as a Barina? Why won’t we get the Opel Insignia? Because Holden has opted to run with Daewoo-sourced models, such as the upcoming Holden Cruze.
I have a feeling it’s to do with number crunching and bean counting more than anything.
Yes, welcome to capitalism. Profit comes first before consumers.
Reminds me of an early season of Top Gear, where they drooled over the prototype of the current model Astra and were told that’s what it’d look like… a few episodes later they showed the final version, the disappointment was so thick in the air you could cut it with a knife…
Yes Mike you’re right, but the upcoming Cruze is a replacement for the Viva, not Astra. One would assume this means that they’re bringing the Astra in or building a small car based on the same platform at a higher price than the Cruze.
I just don’t like it’s front.
These are fakes. There was a video a month or so ago that showed the Astra being driven around the ‘Ring in the rain and its windscreen wipers were like those seen on many Peugeots and the Honda Civic sedan, where as the photoshopped pics have normal windscreen wipers, therefore they are fakes.
