Audi R8 V8 Tuned By Wheelsandmore More Powerful Than R8 V10

Who woulda thunk it? By throwing a supercharger and a tweaked ECU tune at an Audi R8 V8, German tuning company Wheelsandmore has managed to unlock more power from the bent eight than what’s on offer from the big-daddy R8 V10 - and for the same overall cost too.

It’s a small margin mind you - at 390kW the supercharged R8 only boasts 4kW more than the V10 - but what really grabs the eyeballs is the claimed torque figure of 745Nm - an astonishing 215Nm more than the R8 5.2FSI V10.

And at a combined cost of €34,200 ($66,000 AUD) for the supercharger kit (€32,500) and the ECU (€1700), the tuning package neatly pushes up the price of an R8 4.2 FSI to just €900 more than a base R8 V10. As a bang-for-buck proposition, it sure is hard to beat.

It doesn’t end there though. Wheelsandmore also offers a sizable 380mm/8-piston front and 360mm/6-piston rear brake package for €13,998, as well as a sports muffler with bypass valve for €4800.

Lowering springs are probably the cheapest items on offer at a mere €900, but those with thick wallets can go the whole hog and order a fully-adjustable lightweight set of springs and dampers for €3999. Fancy a hydraulic lifting kit that’ll allow you to clear those pesky speed humps? Add another €4950.

€5500 buys you a carbon-fibre front spoiler and rear diffuser, while Wheelsandmore have two designs of 20-inch alloys that cost upward of €9000. Big dollars, but you’ll be big pimpin’ fo sho.

Why,why, why do these car manufacturers keep churning out these over priced over rated hoon cars ?

Because people buy them? Not everyone is happy with a Toyota snoozebox.
