BMW 5 series GT Revealed In Production Form: Video

BMW 5 series GT

It was only a matter of time. When BMW debuted its segment-straddling 5 series Gran Turismo concept at the recent Geneva Auto Show, it was a foregone conclusion that the four-seater demi-wagon was destined for production.

Now, thanks to BMW’s own online video channel, we can see that the German automaker has wasted no time in taking the handsome hatch/wagon from concept to showroom-ready spec.

Revealed on BMW TV, the productionised 5 series GT loses the stylishly impractical wing mirrors, oversized wheels and flamboyant interior trim of the concept car, but retains the shapely sheetmetal and cabin layout.

Hans-Jurgen Branz, project leader for the 5 series GT, talks us through the new wagonette in the video, however being German we can’t understand a word he’s saying.

No matter. With the GT well and truly on its way from show stand to showroom, we’re sure we’ll be getting the full scoop on BMW’s latest experiment in genre-blending fairly soon. Stay tuned.
