Tuner Update - 2007 US Custom rod of the year awarded

California - A collaborative effort from owner Wes Rydell and world renowned hot rod builder Chip Foose, has gone into construction of this custom 1954 Chevy Bel Air. It seems to have payed off by taking away the coveted Goodguys/Mr Clean AutoDry Car Wash 2007 Custom Rod of the Year award in the US.

Finished with custom copper Glasurit paint, this ‘54 Bel Air is as retro-tech as it gets, and runs front and rear Corvette C5 suspension with matching callipers that bite huge Baer brake rotors.

Only on close inspection will you appreciate the work that has gone into this beautiful crafted machine, with Wes and Foose’s plan being not to stray away from the original factory lines - subtly is the key. They even refrained from chopping the roof!

Unlike most award winning street machines this 1954 Chevy Bel Air is regularly used by its owner Wes and his wife, for what it was originally designed for – cruising, and has already seen 10,000 miles of quality highway action around the states.

When i first saw this car, i almost past out. It was weird because i own a brown 54 chev 2dr post! I even wanted to do the 55 head light corners. It don’t say what bumpers he used but it looks like he molded a 55 and parts of the 54 together or the 55 all together. Man ,thanks chip this made me happy when i saw this car. Not only is this an odd car but the brown tone is never used as a choice and i intend to keep it brown.

I just saw this car this morning driving in grand forks ND!
