Following the extremely conceptual BMW 1 Series Coupe Super Sport sketch and rumour we reported on this morning, an astute reader of the UK’s Car Magazine has snapped photos in the street of a 1 Series with a carbon-fibre roof.

Ordinarily the domain of BMW’s M division, the carbon-fibre-roofed 1 Series spied by a certain Rainer Wargitsch – who surely has a future in automotive spy photography – adds a little credence to the rumours.

If it is a genuine BMW test car, it’s more than a little odd of them to leave it sitting in the street for all the world to see the special roof. If it’s not, I suspect we’ll see news in the coming week from whichever tuning house is cutting out 1 Series roofs and fitting carbon-fibre replacements.
