While Australia has only recently been introduced to the 2009 Ford Fiesta, Euro tuners have been busy with Ford’s new light car, waving their wands over the standard car to turn up the heat a little.

German outfit Loder1899 has tackled the handling package and smartened up the Fiesta’s visuals, while British crew Mountune Performance has been working with Ford’s Team RS to come up with an engine performance kit for the car.

Loder1899 has added a subtle but effective front apron, side skirts and three-piece rear apron with integrated diffuser.

The outboard edges of the rear kit house twin dual-oulet stainless-steel exhaust tips to round the package out.

Suspension gets lowered by 35 mm (1.4 inches) and rolling stock is swapped out for 17-inch alloys with 205/40R17 tyres, or 18-inch rims wrapped in 215/35R18 rubber. The styling package adds a degree of understated menace to the look of the Fiesta.

For those who’d like some ‘yee-ha’ added to their Fiesta, Mountune has put together an engine upgrade kit for the Fiesta with the help of Ford’s factory performance arm, Team RS.

Does 104kW (140hp) and 170Nm (125lb-ft) from the 1.6 litre Fiesta engine sound like the sort of thing you were looking for? Make no mistake, those figures make for a very real enhancement over the standard car’s 88kW (120hp) and 152Nm (112lb-ft).

The extra shove is provided by a minor modification to the engine’s tuning, as well as a new air-induction system and high-flow exhaust with a tubular manifold.

The revisions equate to a 7.9 second 0-100 km/h sprint, shaving a full 2.0 seconds off the standard 1.6 litre Fiesta’s 9.9 second dash.

The Mountune package is available from selected UK dealers for £1,299 (AUD $2780) plus fitting. Fingers crossed Ford Australia has something similar in the pipeline for Fiesta customers here.

1104kW and 1125lb-ft of torque does seem tempting, although in a FWD car it might be a little too much to handle :)

I think your 1 key is a little sticky.

Haha, well spotted geni, cheers. That would be one hell of a Fiesta!

These look good in the flesh, the white one looks the goods.

With fuel prices, credit crunch and eco factors at play…the smaller brawlers are always a good little alternative.

It’s good to see that small cars no longer need be boring…

White ones a bit OTT, Me I prefer Subtle and would just take the engine mods, wheels and brakes.

If we’re lucky we might see another XR4 setup around 2012, and maybe (just maybe) an Australian equivalent to the Focus RS (made by Aus FPV) about the same time (when we start making Focus’s locally)…

I tell ya, Mazda must be happy that the Focus RS isnt coming here. It means the butt ugly new MPS (that smile is a killer) might actually sell like hot cakes, seeing as its still a FWD weapon to be reckoned with.

I just wont keep my hopes up for anything special out of Ford for the next few years. Ford will probably be wanting to keep selling XR6 and XR8’s, and any competition to that line-up (yes, the Focus RS would whip the A$$ off an XR6T, and with 25-30% better fuel economy around town) will be put on the shelf until the Economy is back on track.

Its a shame really. The only chance I’ll get to drive a Focus RS will be in Hong Kong this June, when I travel there for holidays and to catch up with a friend who has imported one fresh off the production line. I consider myself very lucky to get even that close to the RS beast
