Possibly the most eagerly awaited unveiling in Sydney it was also the biggest letdown. We saw the countdown timer on HSV’s website and expected big things. Maybe an LS7 powered ’something-or-other’, or at least an E-Series sporting an LS2 with more mumbo. What did we get…a brown (light Tan…?) Clubsport with 307kW like all the others.
I walked past this car a few times before I realised that this is how HSV chose to celebrate 20 years in the performance car business…what a let-down.
If you can be bothered, you can check out the 20th Anniversary Clubsport in the gallery below. I’ll take a regular Clubby in silver thanks…actually make that a Sportswagon.

It is a bit of a let down isn’t it!
It would have been alright if they didn’t talk it up and put the countdown timer on their site. The R8 is an awesome car but this version is not worth the wind-up we’ve been put through.
This car turns heads in real life.
I’ve seen one on the road & it looks hot.
HSV dont need to change anything else, becausde the R8 is the fastest production car in Australia.
This is seen when the FPV 302 cobra was compared with the 20th Ann R8- the R8 left it for dead.
Good on ya HSV.
The new FPV cobras are selling for over $90,000 now- I wonder what the 20th Ann R8 will go for since its a much better car & rarer.
Reagrds,
Joe.
