Vaughn Gitten Jnr Smashes World Drifting Record In Bone-Stock 2010 Mustang GT

Drifting. It's a deadly serious form of motorsport to some and a passing fad to others, but no matter what your opinion everyone agrees that it takes a certain level of finesse to initiate, hold and prolong a good slide.

Professional drifter Vaughn Gitten Junior has the magic touch, and he makes a living getting cars sideways. His latest project? Teaming up with the lads from 0-60 magazine to smash the Guinness world record for a sustained drift.

Record attempts are always impressive in themselves, but Gitten gets extra kudos for making his record-breaking run in nothing more than a bog-standard 2010 Ford Mustang GT. It's not exactly the most thrilling thing to watch, but if drifting is your cup of tea then spend a few minutes watching 0-60's video of the attempt.

Check it out below.

It is good to see the crown being returned to a RWD car.

So what car was used to set the initial world record?

I was looking forward to some tires popping...a little disappointing
