BIGFOOT MIGHT BE a fraud, but the yeti is now among us.

In addition to the Greenline version of the Octavia, Skoda is set to use the Geneva Motor Show to reveal the fifth model in its family; the production version of the Yeti soft-roader.

The Yeti will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines.  The petrol options will include 1.2 litre and 1.8 litre TSI engines making 77kW and 118kW respectively.

The 1.2 litre will be offered as a front-wheel-drive model, while the 1.8 litre will feature a 4x4 platform.

The diesel engines will all share a 2.0 litre capacity, and will be common rail TDI units.  Power will start at 81kW (FWD, 4x4), followed by 103kW (4x4) and 125kW (4x4).

Skoda promises the Yeti will offer excellent handling characteristics and high agility, with outstanding off-road ability and traction.

The Yeti’s luggage compartment volume is flexible, with up to 1760 litres available by removing the rear seats.

A high seating position is also promised, along with versatile operating options and optimum safety options – though none have been specified as yet.

No doubt more information will be made available when the car is properly unveiled, so stay tuned for more details – and hopefully a release date for the Australian market.
