On Sunday we reported on a dubious article posted by the Detroit Free Press which claimed Toyota and Subaru had confirmed that their joint entry-level rear-wheel-drive sports car project had been put on “indefinite hold”.

Now, according to Inside Line and “knowledgeable PR sources in Japan”, we should ignore that news and keep our spirits high – again – because the project is still on track.

“The project is still on track, according to the info I have on hand,” said a spokesperson for Toyota.

While it’s true the production date has been postponed to “2012 or later”, we can at least rest assured (for now) that the ‘Toyobaru’ is on the way.
