Specialist South African sports car builder Perana has just released the first batch of pics and information on its upcoming Z-One performance coupe, and it looks like it's got the goods to be a cracking drive.

The V8-powered Coupe will arrive packing 330kW and weigh under 1200kgs, while limited numbers and keen pricing should see the Zagato-designed coupe's entire production run cleaned out quick-smart.

With less than 1.2 tonnes of spaceframe chassis and shapely bodywork to haul around, that 330kW 6.2 litre LS3 Corvette engine should generate some pretty eye-widening acceleration.

There's no ABS or ESP though, so drivers will need to rely on the Z-One's, double-wishbone suspension, limited-slip differential and their own quick reflexes to keep the car out of the shrubbery. Ultra-wide Michelin tyres measuring 275/35/18 front and 345/30/19 rear come as standard, but judicious use of the accelerator will still be required to keep owners on the black stuff.

Brake rotors measure 325mm across on the front and 305mm on the rear, with dual and single-piston sliding calipers sharing clamping duties. Considering the Z-One's waif-like kerb weight, they should be more than adequate.

Perana plans to produce a limited run of 999 units, with European pricing expected to be around the €50,000 mark (a touch under AUD $100,000). Potential customers can take a closer look at the Geneva show, where the Perana Z-One will be unveiled. We'll bring you more information as it comes to light.
