Fiat Punto 1.4 T-Jet Heading For Oz

FIAT IS GETTING all hot under the performance collar at the moment. Abarth has recently returned to the fold and Fiat has just announced that it will be adding a new turbo model to the Punto line-up in early 2008.

The arrival of the Fiat Punto Sport 1.4 T-Jet, with a 0-100 kmh time of 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 195 kmh is set to further Fiat’s hot-hatch credentials.

The new 1.4 16v T-Jet engine delivers 90 kW at 5000 rpm and peak torque of 206Nm, with a useful 200 Nm available from as low 1700 rpm.

Big torque low in the rev range has been achieved thanks to the fitment of a low inertia turbocharger that has allowed increased performance without sacrifices being made in the areas of exhaust emissions and fuel economy.

Fuel consumption remains low with an average of 6.6 L/100 km in the combined cycle and CO2 emissions are a very respectable 155 g/km.

Prices and specifications for the Fiat Punto Sport 1.4 T-Jet will be announced when it goes on sale.

The Fiat Punto Sport 1.4 T-Jet will sit alongside the Fiat Punto Sport 1.9 JTD, with which it shares trim and equipment, as the top versions of the Fiat Punto – at least until the Fiat Punto Abarth arrives in mid-2008.

First use of the BRILLIANT MultiAir technology and series 2 multijet common rail diesel.

Interior has more kit inc. and better quality/look, same on the exterior, so called Maserati front look is now finished.
