Audi TT RS Official Photos, Details And Sound Byte Released

Late last week we gave you everything we had on the upcoming Audi TT RS – and it wasn’t a lot.  A couple of teaser images, some sketchy details, and that was about it.

Fast forward a short while, and Audi’s given up the lot.

Due to be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the TT RS will be offered in both Coupe and Roadster guise.

Packing a turbo-charged 2.5 litre 5-cylinder engine with direct injection, the quattro-equipped TT RS is good for 253kW (340hp) and 448Nm (331lb-ft) of torque.

Power reaches the ground through the all-wheel-drive quattro system and a six-speed traditional manual transmission.

Audi says the TT RS covers the 0-100km/h (62mph) run in under 5 seconds, on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

No specific information has been offered for the TT RS’s brakes, but they've clearly benefited from an upgrade, as has the suspension and ESP system.

Visually, the TT RS has been treated to a subtle update of the TT S’s styling, including larger front air vents, and a prominent rear diffuser and rear wing.

Also included with the TT RS are what looks to be two sets of wheels to choose from: the multi-spoke rims first seen on the Audi RS4, and a smaller two-tone five-spoke set.

The TT RS Coupe and Roadster models are expected to go on sale in Europe around the second quarter of 2009, but Audi is remaining tight-lipped on whether it’ll be seen anywhere else.
