Word is out on Audi's TT RS, along with a couple of teaser pics to whet our insatiable performance car appetites.

Due to take its first public bow at the Geneva Auto Show in early March, the TT RS is promising well north of 224kW/300hp, from its five-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged 2.5 litre engine.

2009-audi-ttrs-003Audi is shying from specifics this close to the launch, but is suggesting that it "needs nowhere near five seconds to reach 100 km/h (62.14 mph)".

So, it's fair to assume that it is quick. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Audi notes that, "on paper", it will go faster.

The TT RS will also feature quattro permanent all-wheel drive and significantly larger brakes.

Revisions to the exterior include the requisite 'subdued but tough' RS touches, including large oval exhaust tips and revised bumpers. There is also those neat Audi daytime running LED lights and a rear spoiler.

We expect to hear and see more before the Geneva Auto Show kicks off, so stay tuned.

It's looking like it could be a baby Audi R8 but for a much smaller outlay. I'm very excited to say the least on new details about this car. This car is going to be so HOT it will be sizzling. Since when has Audi not ever made an excellent RS car? I beg to say never.
