Brembo, possibly the best known name in brakes, has announced plans to temporarily lay off 1,840 workers - a response to the on-going decline in the auto industry and demand for Brembo’s products dropping off.

To help align production output with falling demand, Brembo will implement a system of temporary layoffs. During the March to May period, Brembo will bench between 540 and 680 white collar workers for 20 days. In March, between 120 and 1,160 blue collar workers will be rested.

Outside of their Italian operations, Brembo has already laid off 160 workers in Mexico. The company is not predicting an end to the current conditions any time in the next few months.
