Once upon a time, ’green’ car buyers were offered scant choice - they may have been lucky to find a single green model from some automakers. Nowadays, any car maker not offering a range of green options is in serious trouble. Škoda has seen ‘the writing’ (on the walls that is) and introduced its GreenLine version of the new mid-size Superb in the UK.

Utilising the Volkwagen group’s BlueMotion technology, the GreenLine Superb is powered by a 1.9 litre turbo-diesel engine producing 78kW (105HP) and 249Nm (184lb-ft) of torque. Consumption is only 5.1l/100km on the European cycle and CO2 emissions just 136g/km.

Also contributing to the GreenLine Superb’s excellent economy are low rolling-resistance tyres, 15mm lower ride height, changes to the front bumper for improved aerodynamics, a tyre repair kit in place of a spare wheel and higher gearing.
