We hinted at it a week ago, but now it’s official: the latest and greatest Mazda3 MPS will be on display at the Melbourne International Motor Show on March 4, mere hours after the car’s official unveiling at the Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland. It’s also been announced that we can expect to see the MPS land in Aussie showrooms sometime in the third quarter of 2009.
You can rest assured that we’ll be there to get up-close and personal with the 2009 Mazda3 MPS, but until then you’ll have to make do with these teaser images and video of Mazda’s newest performance flagship. Check ‘em out after the jump.

wow that scoop makes it look really aggressive
i like it!!
Hopefully its All Wheel Drive so it can compete with the WRX and the Ralliart Lancer.
Hey Will, as yet there’s been no indication from Mazda that the Mazda3 MPS will have an AWD drivetrain. We’ve got our fingers crossed that it will, but considering how much of a cracking drive the outgoing FWD one was would it be such a loss if it remained a bum-dragger?
It wouldn’t be much of a loss at all as it would be competing against the Euro Hot Hatchs such as the Golf GTI and Clio sport etc.
But still would be rather cool if it was AWD
Mmmmm… Sexier than the Danika Patrick pictures!
AWD would be cool. Does anyone remember the 323 SS/Laser TX3 Turbo 4WD’s from the late 80’s early 90’s. Awesome little cars in their day.
Robbo I remeber those days…they were pretty much a Mazda anyway as the TX3 was based off the Mazda Familia!
