The good folks at Kia-World.net have got their hands on spy photos of the upcoming coupe version of the Kia Cerato – also sold internationally as the Forte and the Spectra.
While it doesn’t look much like a Jag, the Cerato coupe has been codenamed XK, and was first revealed in concept form back in March 2008 as the KOUP (above). The styling of the production model appears to have kept most of the lines of the concept, although once the cladding comes off we’ll probably see a slightly more subdued overall style.
Engine options are expected to include a 95kW 1.6-litre diesel for the Korean market, as well as 2.0- and 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol variants for the rest of us. Kia-World opines that a 2.0-litre turbo option will show up down the track – now that’d be something.
The XK Coupe is expected to debut in the US in 2009. No word on when or if we can expect to see it down here in Oz.
