UK magazine car has caught Jaguar’s next-gen flagship out testing, although not much is visible in the way of specific design details. One thing’s for sure: the retro styling of the current model XJ is out, and a more aggressive XF-like approach is in.

Where the outgoing model is conservative and outmoded, the 2010 XJ styling looks to be trending in the direction of the likes of the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes S-Class.  With the legendary Ian Callum at the helm of the design office at Jaguar, we can be sure that whatever lies beneath all that cladding is going to be absolutely stunning.

To ensure it competes with the big dogs (pardon the pun), we can likely expect naturally-aspirated and supercharged versions of one of Jaguar’s current V8 mills to power the new XJ.
